Established in 1896, the NSW Sports Club is one of the oldest licensed clubs in Sydney, and indeed in the country. Originally formed by 25 gentlemen who were keen to represent and to foster amateur forms of sport, the Club was the Headquarters for most amateur sporting bodies in the State for many years, including rugby.
However, as the various associations grew and obtained their own premises, the NSW Sports Club developed into a Businessmen’s Club. Now many of our members and clientele are drawn from the CBD’s epicentre of finance, banking, insurance, stockbroking as well as many other professions.
The club is located in Hunter Street, and encompasses 3 floors of sophistication and old world charm blended with modern facilities. Facilities include Market Restaurant, Level 3 Bar & Bistro, billiard tables and function rooms.
The club is easily accessible to all forms of public transport including trains (Wynyard Station – 100metres), buses (George, Carrington and York Streets – a few minutes walk) and ferries (Circular Quay – 10 minute walk).
